White Balance

White Balance
In digital cameras, can be found the term White Balance (WB), which means the ability of the camera reads color temperature in units of degrees Kelvin (K). Color temperature is a way to measure the quality of light. Light with high color temperature (Kelvin value is high) have more blue light than with a low color temperature (Kelvin value is low).
Here is a table showing some light sources with their color temperature.
Stop Motion
Oct 12th
Stop motion (also known as stop action) is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence. Clay figures are often used in stop motion for their ease of repositioning. Motion animation using clay is called clay animation or clay-mation.
The term “stop motion”, related to the animation technique, is often spelled with a hyphen (stop-motion). Both orthographical variants, with and without the hyphen, are correct, but the hyphenated one has, in addition, a second meaning, not related to animation or cinema. Stop-motion: “a device for automatically stopping a machine or engine when something has gone wrong” (The New Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, 1993 edition).
And now, I’ll show you the results of stop motion made by me and my friends, we’ve made for computer class project. That’s about the poem entitled Footprints, which tells about a man that had a dream, on the sand he saw footprints of two people side by side.

It’s a good news!!!
If you have questions about photography, or suggestions and criticisms about this website,
you can send us an email!!!
Do not be afraid to ask. We live in this world together to learn many things including photography. I’m not a professional in photography, but I will answer your question from what I know. If I can’t answer your question, then I will find it out or I will ask my photography teacher, so I can also learn more from what I don’t know before.
Thank you for your attention
Have a nice day!!
New Site Feature
Oct 3rd
RNC Photograph has just updated its page called “Portfolio”. Now in “Portfolio” page, you can directly see the my photoworks from the slide show that supported by Flickr.
My photoworks are not the perfect and professional photoworks. I am also a photography student that still needs more knowledge about photography.
My photos were not only that, but will be uploaded at any time. If you are interested to have an original photo, without the compressed, you can send me an email at nathaniel_1996@yahoo.com, and I will definitely respond it.

Another Function of the Filter

Picture above is a picture of my cracked UV filter, which has made me realized another function of the filter.
This is the story,
Last Saturday, I was photographing in Central Park Mall, Jakarta, Indonesia.
I need a wide lens, so I took off my macro lens from my camera, and put it in my bag. At that time, my bag was full, so I couldn’t zip my bag. Because I thought my lens was safe enough, I continued photographing. Since I was too busy for photographing, I forgot that my macro lens was in a less secure position….

DIAPHRAGM
Aug 30th
The diaphragm is a gap in the lens (aperture shutter) that functions as a regulator of the amount of the light that enters the camera and recorded on film.
Lens aperture is set according to the need, expressed by the number “f” (fenestra), called as “f / stop”, ie: f / 1 – f / 1.4 – f / 2 until f / 22.

Aperture
Diaphragm related with the DoF (Depth of Field), the room in front of and behind the object that are still included in the range of focus.
As the aperture number become smaller, the diaphragm gap become bigger, so the amount of the incoming light becomes more. Small diaphragm will create a deeper depth of field so it could produce a sharper image, foreground and background blur. Small diaphragm is suitable for shooting an object with the background scenery.
However, if the number is greater, the diaphragm gap become smaller, so the amount of the incoming light become less. Large diaphragm will create shallower depth of field so that all object(s) in the picture looks sharp. Suitable for studio shooting.
Memory Card
Jul 30th
In a digital camera, the incoming light is recorded by the sensor and stored in data storage media (MEMORY CARD).
Here are some kinds of data storage media that often used in digital cameras.
1. Compact Flash (CF)

Compact Flash
Compact Flash (CF) may be said an early form of memory card, first lauched by SanDisk in 1994, and was the memory card that widely used in digital cameras. Compact Flash has a variety of capacities, ranging from the smallest 128MB, up to the largest 32MB.

Camera Digital Sensor
Jul 1st
Today, digital technology is slowly replacing analog systems (manual).

With digital technology, digital cameras do not use film as a medium for recording images. In digital cameras, the intensity of light that enter through the lens recorded by the sensor image recorder, whose function is to convert light into electronic signals which are then stored on the memory card in the form of digital data (binary code).
Resolution, sensitivity, or sensitivity in capturing the light to be one important factor in determining digital cameras product quality.
There are two types of Digital Sensor:

Lunar Eclipse 16 June 2011
Jun 16th
Yesterday, on June 15, 2011, I heard the news that the total lunar eclipse will occur on June 16, 2011 early morning, in my home area, precisely in Jakarta, Indonesia. I certainly do not want to miss this opportunity. At around 1 am, I’ve set up my camera and my tripod on my backyard to welcome the arrival of a total lunar eclipse. I waited about 2 hours and finally…. Around 3 am, the total lunar eclipse appeared. Without waiting longer, I immediately hit my camera shutter button. The total lunar eclipse was visible only around 5 to 10 minutes, then disappeared. Luckily, I could get some pictures of the lunar eclipse, and this is the best photo that I got.
